Bluetooth is an open standard developed by the Swedish Ericsson meant for wireless connections between devices on a short distance.
Depending on the applied capability a range of 1, 10 or 100 meter can be reached. Thanks to Bluetooth for example address information can be exchanged between mobile phones, documents can be printed quickly from a handheld computer or a mobile phone can be equipped with a wireless headset. Bluetooth works with radio signals, therefore devices don't need to be in eachothers 'sight'. With bluetooth a speed of 1 mbps can be reached.
