Glossary definition of European Telecommunications Standards Institute

Also known as: ETSI

ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) is an independant non-commercial organisation created in 1988 that specialises in telecommuncations standards. ETSI has helped finalise many specifications including UMTS, TETRA and DECT, and does a lot of work to keep standards compatible across Europe and throughout the world. Many standards are produced working closely with the ITU in order to keep them harmoised.

ETSI has a website at which has all their standards and working papers available for download, most notably their significant 3GPP documentation.
